Who We Are

Visionary Women for Development (VWD) is a Rwanda-based non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to empowering vulnerable families, youth, and adolescents. We focus on creating sustainable change by restoring hope, building resilience, and fostering emotional and financial stability within communities.

Founded on the belief that everyone deserves a chance to thrive, VWD addresses critical challenges such as unplanned pregnancies, gender-based violence, malnutrition, and economic instability.

An emotionally stable and financially empowered Rwandan community.

Our Mission

To promote and empower vulnerable families, youth, and adolescents, especially girls affected by unplanned pregnancies, through restoring hope, offering advisory and advocacy services, economic empowerment, and welfare programs for sustainable development.

The Organisation aims at:

  • Empowering and promoting vulnerable women victims of violence, unplanned & or premature pregnancies;
  • Restoring the hope of beneficiaries and entire community;
  • Making the community emotionally and economically empowered;
  • Raising awareness of conflicts prevention and mindset change for a sustanable development.

Beatrice Kayitesi

The founder of VISIONARY WOMEN FOR DEVELOPMENT-VWD

Beatrice served more than 10 years as Missionary of Our Lady of Africa within the Catholic Church, especially in social protection domain. She is very passionate for women, girls & youths empowerment in view of strengthening families and the entire community. Very engaged in making a positive change in her community, she is committed to contribute to the development of her country Rwanda and the continent of Africa as a whole.

UWIZEYIMANA Aloysie

Deputy Legal Representative

Aloysie brings a wealth of expertise to Visionary Women for Development. She is a lecturer at the University of Rwanda, College of Education, specializing in Professional Practice of Interpreting Skills. Additionally, she teaches at the College of Arts and Social Sciences. With a Master’s degree in Translation and Interpreting, Aloysie plays a pivotal role in ensuring VWD operates with integrity, professionalism, and a clear vision for empowering communities.

Eric HABYARIMANA

Advisor, VWD

Eric is a passionate and versatile professional with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Rwanda. His career spans diverse roles, including experience as a tax collector and a self-employed digital content creator, showcasing his adaptability and expertise in project management, communication, and content creation. His dedication extends to extensive volunteer work, emphasizing his drive to empower and uplift communities.

UWIHOREYE M. Jeanne

Member, VWD

Marie Jeanne is a dedicated advocate for community development and women's empowerment. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management and currently serves as the Administrative Liaison Officer for Muhanga District. Marie Jeanne’s experience and passion for social transformation make her an invaluable part of VWD’s mission.
